Lifelong Housing and Finance Experience.

Seán Riley's first job as a youth was working from 1981-83 for the developer and on-site construction management of a 900,000+ sq. ft. multi-use mega project called Market Square in his hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick. Market Square included government-financed and funded low and high-rise housing for low-income seniors as well as supportive and assisted housing for homeless and those with various disabilities.

In 1984 Riley worked as a political aide in the Ottawa office of the Honourable Romeo LeBlanc PC, then Minister Responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation ("CMHC") and also Minister of Public Works. A young Riley gained many insights into the historical role of how a proactive government could assist in making housing accessible and affordable for millions and generations of Canadians, a role soon abandoned in the decades housing affordability and homelessness was predictably and incrementally compounded and worsened for subsequent generations of working class, disadvantaged, disabled and poor over the past 20 years after housing became commodified as a financial investment product for investors.
